The main issue with snow and ice equipment is that it's only used during the
season which gives it plenty of time and opportunity to develop issues during
the off-season. Customers who install equipment on their vehicles and then begin
plowing or salting without checking and maintaining the main components are at
risk of recurring problems.
We asked our parts specialists to share their thoughts on the best ways to
prepare your snow plow for use this winter, the best way to store and prepare
your Fisher
Salt and Sand Spreaders and the most efficient method to store your snow
plow during this winter.
What are some common issues you see when users are taking their snow plows away for the season?
The biggest issue we see when snow plows are brought back in to service is
corrosion of the electrical connections between the snowplow and the truck. It
is important to ensure that the electrical modules as well as the connector pins
and casings are free of any debris and keep the power connections safe and
transmitting properly when in operation.
What are some typical mistakes that people commit when they are putting away their salt spreader for the year?
Salt-based materials can be corrosive. It's important to clean your sander
thoroughly every time you use it. If they begin to show signs of corrosion in
particular, we pay attention to moving parts and steel. Bearings and the
conveyor chain should be checked carefully and cleaned and greased attentively
each time you take your Fisher Salt and Sand Spreaders away to store it for the
winter.
What could happen If a snowplow has not been properly disposed of?
The primary concern you face when putting your snow plow in the wrong place
is the possibility of corrosion on any electrical and steel surface. Electrical
connections won't be as secure once corrosion has set it and therefore keeping
the your plugs dry and clean after use and during storage is essential to ensure
consistent, stable operation whenever you require it. The cover on the power
unit will help keep water out of your hydraulic oil.
What could be the consequences of a sander being put away without being properly prepped?
Similar to snow plows and snow plows. Connection issues are a top culprit in
salt spreaders and sanders not functioning properly during the snowy season. We
also see corrosion and rust in conveyor chains as well as bearings because of
saltiness of the spread. When we are preparing the sander for its final year, we
check and clean all moving surfaces.
Is there an option to get rid of my salt spreader and snow plow at the conclusion?
The Minute 2 Mount system is used by Fisher snowplows. It's very simple to
remove the snowplow and then remove it from the frame of the harness.
There may be a need for cranes or forklifts based on the location you intend
to store your Fisher Salt and Sand Spreaders throughout the year. Many of our
customers have their salt spreader mounted in a dump body with the aid of a
hydraulic hoist. they could use the dumping deck to gradually slide the sander
to the ground.
We can set up your snow or ice equipment right away.
